 Even if you’ve never met him, Stephan Alfieri, may touch your life every day. Stephan is the mail carrier for half of Venetian Isles* and at the end of May, he’ll be retiring after 41 years of government service. We recently asked him about his experience working in our community.
How long have you worked for the Postal Service? I joined the Postal Service after serving 4 years in the United States Navy. Except for 4 months, my entire 37+ year postal career has been spent in the 33703 delivery area at the Gateway Mall Station. How long have you been working in Venetian Isles? When I first started at the Postal Service, I delivered mail on all routes in the station as a substitute. My first time delivering mail in Venetian Isles, I knew that was where I wanted to have my permanent route. Then in 1982, I got a route that included part of Venetian Isles and I have been here ever since. Throughout the years, with all the adjustments to the various routes, I have, at some point, delivered mail to every house in Venetian Isles. What do you like most about working in Venetian Isles? It’s not only a great place to deliver the mail, but also a great place to live. I see it every day. It’s such a tight knit community. Neighbors looking out for and helping one another – that’s special! What are your plans for your retirement? I’m planning a nice Carribbean cruise with my wife in October. I’m also looking forward to spending time with my grandkids, painting and working around the house. I’ll keep active and do some volunteer work too. Is there anything you would like to say to the residents of Venetian Isles? It has been an honor, a privilege and a pleasure to serve you. I thank you for your thoughtfulness and kindness throughout the years. You’ve always had a nice word for me and that means an awful lot! I will truly miss my route and all the wonderful people in Venetian Isles.
