Greetings VI Homeowners, The VIHA Board of Directors would like to update you that the City of St Petersburg has recently selected a contractor to construct a new 80' segment of seawall on the south side of Grand Canal Blvd between Overlook and Massachusetts Ave NE. The construction is scheduled to start in late October and be completed in December 2016. This segment of Grand Canal Blvd may be closed for a portion of time during the construction. The contractor will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to residents. Please see the document below from the City of St Petersburg for more details. 
After a several year “hiatus,” the Venetian Isles Oktoberfest was held on October 15 on Kansas Ave, South and was judged to be a great success. Approximately 275 – 300 people attended to savor the “brats and dogs” cooked up by the “Michigan Ave. Grillers” accompanied by tableful’s of appetizers, salads and desserts brought by VI residents. Brett Husselbaugh and "The Apple Strudel Band" played traditional German songs throughout the event and Tom Callahan’s cotton candy station was as popular as ever with the kids – who also had the opportunity to get their faces painted!!!!. A passing rain shower didn’t “dampen” the festive mood (but did soak a couple of shirts!!!) as people milled about well after sunset until the kegs were “kicked.” This “signature event” of Venetian Isles is one that residents had asked to return that would not have happened without the commitment of Julie Scanlon and a great group of volunteers. One street is picked each month and reviewed by various VI Homeowners to find the most well kept property on that street.
The first "Property of the Month" has now been reviewed and awarded. The Salmon property at 2093 Carolina Avenue was the first recipient of this award. There were several properties that rose to being better than most but, this properties landscaping was the best. The Salmon's received a "Property of the Month" sign sponsored by Dolans Garden Center for the month of October to recognize their beautiful property. Along with the sign placement came a $25 gift certificate from Dolans. Congratulations, Salmon Family!
